Yoga Therapy is the adaptation of yoga teaching for people with specific health needs. It is taught by yoga teachers with additional training and experience in the therapeutic application of yoga.

My Yoga practice started in 1970 inspired by my teacher, Tina Sessford. She and Wilfred Clarke were founders of both the British Wheel of Yoga and Friends of Yoga, both now well established organisations in teacher training to present day. I have been practising Yoga for over 40 years and teaching for 35. My Yoga experience does not follow any one particular school or tradition but is anchored in Hatha Yoga practice. Having worked for the local hospital within Child and Adult psychiatry and Occupational Therapy departments, it became clear to me that Yoga was a valuable therapeutic tool. I have trained teachers for Friends of Yoga for over 20 years and now have focused my energy on developing training with therapy at its heart. I run classes, Teacher training and Post graduate yoga therapy courses from The Inner Place Yoga Studio in Ledbury, Herefordshire, where I am the principal of Real Yoga. I am also a Senior Tutor for the College of Healing, National Assessor and Trainer for Friends of Yoga, .
I have been working with the British Council for Yoga Therapy alongside other training organisations including Dru, Iyengar, Kryshnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation, Birthlight and many others for the last 7 years to develop a training standard for Yoga Therapy, and have been appointed as a representative for Yoga Therapy to the Complementary and National Healthcare Council. Simultaneously with my Yoga work I have worked in the field of Complementary Medicine since 1976. In Yoga therapy my approach is holistic, working with body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
