Journey through your Chakras; Week 4 - Heart Chakra

Heart Chakra or Anahata in Sanskrit; means unstruck.

This energy centre is all about love, compassion, healing and balance. Unconditional love and self-acceptance. Forgiveness (of self and other) and understanding; Spiritual Relationship with Self and Other; trust and surrender. Reclaiming rejected parts of self, often parts we find repulsive in others. Capacity to love. integration, bridge between earthly and spiritual aspirations. Transcending personal identity and limitations of the ego. Appreciation of beauty in all things. Experiencing deep and meaningful relationships. Anahata is blocked by grief. The Heart Centre, or Fourth Chakra, is also the balance point in the body between the flow of the upper energies of the Heavens and the lower energies of the Earth, where experience shifts from “me to we”.

Curious to know more? Ask yourself the following;

Are you a people pleaser; relying on other’s approval and attention to feel validated?

Are you always putting yourself in the role of the saviour or rescuer; or on the contrary, falling into victim role?

Are you often overly critical towards yourself and others?

Are you prone to holding grudges, not being able to forgive easily if at all?

Are you often suspicious and fearful, especially in close friendships and romantic relationships?

Do you have an inability to give or receive freely?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then its likely your Heart Chakra is out of balance.

Workshop begins with breathwork then we move through various physical yoga poses to awaken the area physically, then a discussion on what an excessive or underactive Heart chakra feels like in our day to day lives.

Also will outline which essential oils, crystals, mantras and activities can help to stimulate or calm Anahata. Resources provided for you to effectively be able to practice at home.

Followed by a nourishing, delicious Chakra Colured Soup by the ladies @TheLocalSqueeze; (Optional and by Dharma donations).

PURPLE PALM YOGA

Mary first turned to yoga as a way of keeping her anchored, fit and sane while working in a manic marketing role. In 2011 she decided to leave that world behind and completed her 200 hour teacher training in Dahab, Egypt; her mother's homeland. The country had an intense pull on her so she relocated there shortly after, teaching her Vinyasa style classes to ex-pats, holidaymakers, Egyptian and Bedouin women, which she describes as an enlightening experience..
Returning to London in 2014 she completed an 80 hour Pregnancy teacher training with Yogamama Ltd, now certified to teach pre/post-natal classes. Mary teaches a dynamic Vinyasa style class, beginning with grounding breathing techniques, flowing physical poses that build strength, tone and flexibility,then ending with a deep relaxation. Classes are always taught with attention, grace and humour, leaving you feeling anchored, relaxed and energised. She is available for private sessions, mini-group sessions, corporate and can also teach women only classes in Arabic.

Currently teaching weekly group classes in Forest Hill, Sydenham and Lewisham, open to mixed ability levels.
