Introduction to Ashtanga yoga

A weekend intensive course 'Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga' for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS. Students are slowly introduced to the practice, and background of Ashtanga Yoga and how to begin self practice or Mysore Style.

Mysore style is the traditional way of practising ashtanga yoga and offers a highly personalised approach without the price tag attached to one-to-ones, and with all of the group energy of a conventional class.
Most yoga studios carry mysore sessions on their timetables, but many people are put off either because they don't know what it is or they don't fancy the idea of a three-hour class that starts at 6.30am. In fact, you can drop into a mysore session at any time and stay for as long as you wish. For beginners, this could be half an hour, and for the more advanced up to 2 hours. It is a wonderful way for beginners and advanced practitioners alike to develop a self-practice that you can then take anywhere.

The weekend intensive is designed to prepare you for an easy entry into a yoga method that can transform your life. You will understand and learn the correct vinyasa system of Ashtanga Yoga allowing a personal yoga practice to develop quickly, bringing health to both body and mind. The course is open to everyone – the only requirement is a willingness to learn.
After completing the sessions students are well prepared to attend self practice Mysore Style Astanga Yoga classes, led Ashtanga Yoga classes and they are ready to begin self yoga practice at home.

AYO - Astanga Yoga Oldham

AYO is a network of yoga alliance registered teachers promoting the Astanga yoga method across North Manchester. We offer classes in Royton, Oldham, Rochdale, Hyde, and Prestwich. All teachers have a committed regular ashtanga practice and continued guidance from an authorised KPJAYI teacher. Each teacher is able to observe the body, give hands on adjustments and guide students to follow a committed yoga practice. The network has recently expanded and now has links in the heart of Veliko Tarnovo and central Bulgaria where we plan to promote the ashtanga system by offering regular classes and organising international workshops and retreats with authorised ashtanga teachers.

We run a full timetable of small classes and private tuition to help spread the love of health and wellbeing, making you all happy shiny people. Most classes are simply drop in, so visit us and experience something much more than a physical experience.

Yoga is 99 percent practice % 1 percent theory.
