New Year Retreat

By the end of the year it’s easy to feel depleted and going on retreat at this time is a wonderful opportunity to nurture yourself. We will be providing a feast for the senses to help you let go of the passing year and move into the next feeling light and easy and better able to fill your life with loving grace.

The programme offers nurture for all parts of your being – mind, body, emotions, and spirit. It includes meditation, yoga, deep relaxation, shared time and time for personal reflection, and the opportunity for a massage or other extra treatment if you wish. We will welcome in the New Year with light hearted fun and simple ceremony in the beautiful yurt, a celebratory bonfire and a walking meditation by the sea on New Year’s Day.

We will also be offering two workshops bringing together our experience of the ancient wisdom of yoga to give you practical tips and techniques to help you grow happier.
Florence House offers very comfortable accommodation and excellent vegetarian food. As well as the main meeting room, library and cosy lounge area, the Yurt will be available for anyone wanting space for personal reflection. There will also be plenty of time for walks on the beach or to explore the stunning scenery of the Seven Sisters Country Park.

Non yogis are welcome to join us too, to enjoy all that Florence House and its lovely setting has to offer. There is plenty of walking and bird watching on the South Downs and a golf course right next door, as well as the lovely old town of Seaford to explore.

The price is £475 for sharing a twin or triple room and £595 for single occupancy. As there is limited single occupancy, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss availability at jo@joannesumner.com.

Joanne Sumner Wellbeing

My name is Joanne Sumner and I am a trained therapist, practitioner, coach and trainer in Yoga, Reiki, Meditation and Flower Essences healing.

I use a serene approach to bring purpose, passion and peace to my clients and students making the journey. My teachings use learning, creativity and movement in a special way that is insightful to all. Offering group classes and one to ones, practising yoga has changed my health and my mind. So much so, that I trained to become a teacher in order to offer the benefits of yoga to others. In particular, I wanted to offer yoga classes in Ealing, West London, because I live here and I wanted to do something that I felt would contribute to my local community.

Yoga is a beautiful and ancient tradition that will help you feel whole. To experience yourself as one happy, healthy, human being at peace with your life and in the world. It is a holistic approach, treating each individual as unique and precious.

Along the way, yoga will help you to:
reduce pain, tension and stiffness in your muscles; regain flexibility; build strength; recover from injury; manage stress; avoid burnout; become calmer and more emotionally resilient;
feel more adaptable; and personally, I find yoga gives me energy and helps me think!

The practice of yoga includes physical postures, breathing control, and relaxation and meditation techniques to bring peace and calm to the body and mind. We work with Sun Salutations, Moon Salutations, and other flowing sequences from time to time, and also with both yin yoga and restorative yoga. So the class is a blend of classical hatha yoga practice and emerging practice – to bring you a sense of deep well-being.
