''I am enough. I already have everything I need to be content and happy''
I tell myself this everyday, sometimes several times a day. It’s a short reminder that many of my worries and wants are trivial compared to the eternal beauty within me. Within all of us.
I was reintroduced to yoga when I had no desire to do anything. It is a lifestyle, a development of self that focuses on becoming conscious of thoughts and actions and trying to change them for the better. To encourage compassion, truthfulness, moderation, and love particularly towards yourself. Our awareness and energy is constantly directed outward, looking for solutions for happiness, gratification and satisfaction. Yet experience teaches us that nothing external can completely fulfill us. Haven't all of us strived for the latest technology/ fashion only to purchase it and realise that nothing has changed. Achieving a headstand hasn’t changed me in any way, but it was something I greatly desired. Nothing we desire will alter who we are. Yoga is a method of reversing the ordinary outward flow of energy and consciousness, so that the mind becomes still and through which we can reveal and actually experience Truth. It’s the knowledge that 'I am enough' just as I am, and the only thing holding me back is me.
Yoga makes me feel firmly grounded in ''reality'', like my spirit has come home. I feel strongly connected to what I didn’t even know I had been looking for. A return to a life that I feel I left behind, whilst striving and desiring something better.
