Pregnancy Yoga Classes

Catering for the 2nd and 3rd trimester (14 weeks+), Pregnancy Yoga classes are carefully designed to maintain movement, to bring physical relief, to prepare for birth and to empower mums-to-be at this special time.

Accessible to all women, whether they are practised yoginis or new to yoga. Racheleyoga pregnancy classes use adaptations of classic yoga from conception to birth, innovating with micro-movements and flow sequences. Deeply nourishing, caring, relaxed and nurturing classes offer a continuity of support, empowering women at all stages of pregnancy.

Yoga is increasingly recommended to pregnant women because it is a gentle way of maintaining or gaining fitness while reducing anxiety with breathing and relaxation techniques. WombYoga pregnancy yoga is at the forefront in selecting and adapting yoga practices that are safest and most suitable for pregnant women. Hip rotations and flowing sequences of moves have been developed to avoid strain in held postures. Yoga breathing techniques have been selected and adapted to expand women’s breathing capacity in gentle and effective ways that carry through to labour and the postnatal period to promote physical and emotional wellbeing. Pelvic elasticity and stability are encouraged for the best foundation for birth and postnatal recovery even when medical intervention is called for.
The WombYoga Pregnancy approach is holisitic: addressing the needs of each woman and baby in supportive small classes. The view that normal birth is accessible to a majority of low risk pregnant women but each woman’s choices are deeply respected is shared. The positive, active yet relaxed atmosphere of WombYoga pregnancy classes aims to convey a shared feeling of celebration and enjoyment of this very special time of transformation and growth. Rachel is an accredited 200hr Yoga Alliance teacher having trained with Yoga London. Rachel’s decision to become a teacher of yoga followed from experiencing the benefits that a regular practice brought to both body and mind. On discovering Vinyasa flow yoga and yoga's ability to heal a compulsion was felt to bring and share it’s joys with the Market Harborough community. Still and forever a student Rachel continually develops her knowledge of yoga. More recently Rachele has completed advanced teacher trainings in Rocket Yoga, and specialised trainings in Wellwoman/WombYoga/Pregnancy yoga with the lovely guru Uma Dinsmore Tulli. She is studying Yin Yoga with Norman Blair in 2017. By regularly experimenting with other styles Rachele hopes that the balance, calm and clarity that yoga brings can be accessed by all.
