Meni Farkash Yoga

Growing up as a young person I was always interested and drawn to Eastern philosophy. My journey first began into exploring Kung Fu which gave me a deep grounding in my body and opened up the awareness, within me, that there is a connection between the body and the mind.

It was after many years of practising Kung Fu that I started to get drawn to Indian philosophy and after a bad back injury discovered the practice of Hatha Yoga. After trying different styles I settled into the path of Iyengar Yoga which I followed for 3 years. As my back injury disappeared and my own sense of peace grew I knew that Yoga was going to become a part of my daily life and that it was something I wanted to teach and share with others.

However I knew that there was something else out there for me to find, a practice that would somehow put together all the things that were important for me. All the teachings that I had discovered in both Kung Fu and Yoga. It was then that I discovered a new teacher with a different style of Yoga and I began a new practice, known as Shadow Yoga.Yoga Classes West Wales Yoga Workshops West Wales Yoga Retreats West Wales

Shadow Yoga was created by Zhandor Remete and when I first witnessed the practice of Shadow Yoga I knew that I had found the practice that I had been seeking. The Shadow Yoga practice is based upon the Ayurvedic marma system (vital junctions). It’s purpose is to remove all stiffness and obstacles from those marmas through the correct application of movement and rhythmic breath. Since then Shadow Yoga has continued to inspire and direct my own personal Yoga journey and has inspired me in my self study of the Ayurvedic system and gain some understanding as to how to use it to aid the Yoga practice.

I became a qualified Yoga teacher in 2006 with the Life centre in London with a diploma course accredited by the British Wheel of Yoga and have been teaching in West Wales ever since. I continue to attend workshops and courses, both in the UK and overseas with great teacher from all different Yoga traditions( Richard Freeman from the Ashtanga Vinyasa and Aadil Palkavalya from Purna Yoga to name a few), on aspects of Yoga that I wish to deepen both for my own practice and for my classes.

In 2014 I started a 250 hour Yoga Therapy course with the Devon School of Yoga. This course provided me with various ways to use Yoga as a therapy practice. I also learned many other therapy based practices that I now introduce in my weekly classes.

My Yoga practice is one that will never end……
