Mindfulness drop-in class

Led by experienced ZenWays mindfulness teachers, Chris, Mark & Jo, these sessions will focus on developing your awareness of the impact of your mind on how you live your life. You will be introduced to a range of skills to help you be more energised, calm and responsive and to build your resilience to physical and emotional pain, whether expressed through anxiety, fear or depression. In doing this, we can rediscover our joy and enthusiasm for life in the moment.
These weekly drop-in sessions will be suitable for total beginners as well as more experienced practitioners.

YourUniverseYoga (Mark Westmoquette)

After over 10 years of yoga practice with teachers from various schools, I trained as a zen yoga teacher in 2009. Since then I've been studying with Jonathan Monks (www.YogaMonks.com) and continuing my Zen Buddhist practice with Daizan Roshi (www.zenways.org). These two teachers and practices are my main influences in my yoga teaching. My Zen Yoga style has its foundation in Zen Buddhist philosophy, and emphasises mindfulness, breath and connection. In my classes, I works towards exploring what yoga really means to me: the union of seemingly opposite forces/concepts to find what lies beneath and beyond.

My classes consist of a combination of mindful posture and flow routines designed to bring increased connection to the ground, awaken and flex the spine, and bring about increased resilience, softness, and awareness. These practices lead to a natural quiet and stillness of the mind, and a gentle letting go throughout our entire being.

I also teach course and workshops in mindfulness, covering techniques and practices drawn from the zen tradition. Mindfulness is a strong theme in zen practice, and can dramatically benefit your general health, wellbeing and vitality, improve concentration, help manage stress/pain/depression, and ultimately lead to a deep understanding of the self and the true nature of the universe.
