Chair Yoga

Starting in September 2019 - date TBA

Chair Yoga is a popular way to experience the holistic healing benefits of Yoga while being seated or standing, using the chair for support and stability. Getting up and down to the mat on the floor may not suit a recovering injury, or restricted mobility, arthritis and osteoporosis. Chair Yoga is a good way to keep mobile, free up muscular tension and allow connective tissues to soften, relaxing muscles and safely working joints. Linking breath to awareness and therapeutic movement, it is easy to gain strength and stability. We practice pranayama, breathing techniques, to bring some space within, that place inside all of us where we can focus on blockages and help create a pathway to healing. It is suitable for all abilities in particular those looking for the gentler, spiritual side of Yoga.

This is a drop in class and runs throughout most of the year. Please contact me if you like further information.

Yoga Gently ❤

Yoga for every body.

A gentle and inclusive class for all abilities to practice and enjoy the spiritual side of Yoga rather than just the physical element. To be in the present. 'Let your practice be your place to be, retreat and heal'.

With over 25 years of Yoga experience from an Iyengar start in teacher training with attention to alignment and discipline - to Scaravelli - Hatha - Vinyasa - flowing sequences and strength. In later years the journey through the gentler Yin and Restorative Yoga as my body recognises it's limits . Fibromyalgia and the ageing bones! There is a Yoga practice for every body. Creating softness and space within, encourages the body/mind connection to release tension, balance emotion, release unwanted thoughts - benefits come quickly with Yoga, the list of positive effects is endless. It just works 🙏

My Yoga journey began with a local teacher, Sue Delf, at The Pavilion Club in East Molesey in 1996. My teaching began with FRYOG in 1998 - have just completed another teacher training course with FRYOG again - The oldest British Yoga school created by the late Ernest Coates. Affiliated with the Independent Yoga Network.

With regular attendance of CPD in all aspects of Yoga - particular interests are in anatomy and physiology for safe practice & Yoga for mental health. I enjoy study & with ongoing research and sharing that knowledge through my classes. There are now so many classes showing the power of Yoga and the strength regular practice can bring, however, the philosophy of Yoga remains unchanged since its birth. Yoga is for every body. My own practice is daily, sometimes only 10 minutes, attending other local Yoga classes at least twice a week with different teachers shares all that Yoga can bring. Yoga helps us to be mindful in action & thought, to be inclusive & to share. We are all made up of the same emotions & during challenging times we are tested. Yin - yang balance.Yoga brings unity and helps us to let our ego rest....’meet yourself where you are & go from there’.
