Yoga for a healthy back

In this class we build up to postures gradually and safely so you can build strength and stability in your spine. The first half of the class usually focuses on warming the body, releasing the joints and mobilising the spine. We then move into classic yoga postures, mostly maintaining a neutral spine with only very gentle twists and backbends.

Moving with the breath will create a sense of calm and ease in your body and mind.

This class is suitable for beginners and those with experience of yoga.

Louise O'Neill - Yogacurve

I'm a yoga teacher and student of yoga. I've been practising yoga for over twenty years and have found it hugely beneficial both physically and emotionally. As somebody with severe scoliosis, yoga has enabled me to life to the full, reducing pain, improving my posture and generally feeling better about myself.

I teach a general hatha style of yoga, warming up the joints before practising a small number of classic postures mindfully and with awareness. My classes support those who wish to maintain a healthy back; releasing tension and strengthening the spinal muscles and abdominals to promote spinal health. I also incorporate pranayama (breathing practices) into classes to encourage relaxation and mindfulness.
