CANDLELIT YIN YOGA

CANDLELIT YIN YOGA

BREATHE. POSITION. SURRENDER.
We specialise in Yin Yoga. Our Yin Yoga classes consists of a series of long-held, passive (still) and seated floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine. These areas are especially rich in connective tissues. If our connective tissue is not stimulated, it can become hard and even crystallised, this can lead to stiffness and staggered energy flow. Unlike vinyasa based yoga, Yin yoga postures - asanas - are held for longer periods of time—for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more.

Yin yoga is great for the mind, but also great for flexibility, relaxation and overall well being. Yin Yoga stimulates our meridians ( energy channels), the same lines that are targeted in acupuncture and acupressure, and by stimulating these lines we work on releasing stagnated energy which is important for your overall well being.

Yin yoga might also be referred to as a type of restorative Yoga and can be used to heal the body and mind from inside out.

Benefits?

You might feel a little happier in the morning, be a bit more flexible on the dance-floor and after a few sessions you might start to sparkle.

During the class we use gentle sound vibrations to lead you in and out of the poses. Some of our classes are lit by candlelight, the pefect way to still busy minds.

Beginners, intermediate, advanced and Yin/Yang classes available. There is a class variation suitable for everyone, but if you're not sure, just ask us and we can recommend a class based on your requirement.

Casa Fortunata - Yin Yoga with Maria

maria usai
CREATIVE DIRECTOR& YIN YOGA TEACHER
Maria has always loved dancing and been fascinated by how fantastic our bodies are. She has always been interested in how our bodies carry us and how we in return should look after our bodies with good food and healthy exercise.

Maria decided to become a yoga teacher after learning about the fantastic benefits yoga have our mind, soul and physical body. She found so much joy in learning about anatomy, fascia and the meridians that she decided to deepen her knowledge and specialise in Yin Yoga.

Maria studied for her Yin Yoga teacher degree in London 2017 and started teaching Yin shortly after. She currently teach Casa Fortunata's weekly candlelit yin yoga classes, private sessions, yin / yang classes and a style of office yoga based around yin poses.

She particularly enjoy working with specific target areas based on her class requirements or requests, and her biggest satisfaction is seeing the yogis improved range of movement, lifted mood and calm minds after the class.
